Part 1: Abstinence Education for Public Schools
A Secular, Evidence-Based Approach
Overview
Part 1 of our program is designed specifically for public schools and meets the requirements of modern educational standards. This curriculum provides a secular abstinence education framework grounded in scientific research, public health principles, and contemporary youth psychology.
Our goal is to help students understand how abstaining from sexual activity during adolescence supports emotional health, physical well-being, and long-term academic success—all without invoking religious doctrine. The lessons are fully compatible with state guidelines and national health education standards.
Core Educational Foundations
1. Psychology (Adolescent Development & Self-Management)
Students learn:
- How the adolescent brain processes emotions and risks
- Why impulse control and delayed gratification support personal goals
- How self-esteem and self-identity influence relationship choices
- Strategies to resist peer pressure in real-life social contexts
The curriculum integrates concepts from developmental psychology, cognitive-behavioral skills, and emotional intelligence.
2. Sociology (Relationships, Social Pressure & Culture)
Lessons examine:
- Media influence on teen relationships
- Cultural norms around dating and sexuality
- Group behavior and social expectations
- Healthy vs. unhealthy peer dynamics
Students analyze how their environment influences decision-making and how personal boundaries can be established.
3. Neurobiology (Brain Development & Risk Behavior)
Students explore:
- The function of the prefrontal cortex in decision-making
- Reward pathways and why teens are drawn to high-risk behaviors
- How stress, hormones, and social factors affect choices
- The long-term impact of early sexual activity on emotional health
These neurobiological lessons are easy to understand and age appropriate.
4. Public Health (Proponents’ View of Abstinence)
The public health component covers:
- Abstinence as the only 100% effective method to prevent pregnancy & STIs
- Emotional well-being and relationship safety
- Delaying sexual activity to reduce public health risks
- How abstinence supports academic stability and long-term goals
All lessons use CDC-compliant health information.

- State family life and health standards
- Federal abstinence education guidelines
- Local district policies for age appropriateness
